MOTENKO TO RELEASE “LIFTED” ON AUGUST 25, 2023

INDIE-SOUL, R&B, AND POP INSPIRED TRACK HIGHLIGHTS HIGH-LEVEL SENSIBILITIES OF EMERGING AUSTIN ARTIST

Austin-based indie-soul powerhouse Motenko is set to shine with their pop-infused summer release “Lifted” on August 25, 2023. The feel-good track highlights frontman Micah Motenko’s soothing vocals over a foundation of smooth keyboards, fluttering clarinets, and a thumping drum beat. The track urges the listener to take a step back and reflect - a needed reminder in a culture increasingly focused on a mindset of constant hustling.

Motenko has become a well-known staple in the Austin music scene and beyond, garnering attention from the likes of KUTX, The Austin Chronicle, Austin360, and SoulTracks. Over the past two years, Motenko has received placements on a CBS series, a Sonic Guild artist grant, an official showcase at SXSW, and a spot among legends at Old Settler’s Music Festival.

While the band is rooted in classic R&B and soul, “Lifted” brings a more modern DIY approach and bedroom-pop aesthetic. No stranger to professional studios, Micah wanted to experiment, opting to record the single entirely at home. In his words, “Stripping down classic pop motifs to their most essential, ‘Lifted’ pokes at our collective yearning for peace and fulfillment. Adrift in a sea of self-improvement, it brings us ashore with a carefree reminder to embrace authenticity.”

Following the successful release of their debut self-titled EP, Motenko is set to make a splash with the release of “Lifted.” Chilled out grooves provide a much needed sonic escape from record high summer temperatures. The release will be complemented by a west coast tour with fellow Austin-based indie-pop duo Wild Child in mid August.
